This book is a step-by-step primer that teaches basic math skills to your kindergartner (hence, the name), Kindy math. Its ten lessons focus on three essential skills: counting and number order, writing the numbers, and, adding single-digit numbers, from 1 to 10. In every lesson, the young students will practice counting, both with and without hints, write numbers, and learn new concepts.

We introduce the basic concept of addition in lesson five. First, we add items by themselves and then in groups, and your student will count them and write the sum. We also introduce the mathematical symbols, + and = in this lesson. Ask your child to trace the numbers written in dotted text. In handwriting pages, some numbers are hidden. Ask your child to fill in the missing number. Sometimes, several numbers are hidden, and she may need your help with these. If necessary, copy the pages if your child needs more handwriting practice. Or consider buying the PDF version of this book, which you can find on our web site. Writing the numbers on a plain piece of paper without looking may also help. We suggest working on just three or fewer pages a day.

At this age, children’s attention span is short and their hands tire easily. They also get bored and frustrated with repetitive work, and we don’t want them to think of math as a tedious subject. If your child does not have strong handwriting skills, do not belabor the handwriting too much. In time, he will get better at it. Use your judgment of how fast your child can move through the pages. Kindy Math book is a part of the Verbal Math series of books, which teach math to children without handwriting, using no paper or pencil. If your child quickly develops good math skills and moves along with Kindy Math program, consider the next level in the series.

Availabel third week in June.
